Irreparable (不可彌補)

聯合國專家說，在很多倚賴進口食物的國家，去年和今年上半年物價上漲，使最貧窮的家庭受到嚴重的打擊，數以百萬計兒童的健康和教育受到不可彌補的損害。The brutal increase in prices in 2007 and the first half of 2008 has left severe marks on the poorest households, leading to irreparable damage to the health and education of millions of children。

去年，南韓一家大學向耶魯大學就假學位醜聞索償五千萬美元，聲稱它的聲譽受到「無可補救」的損害。A South Korean university is suing Yale for US$50 million (HK$390 million) over a fake degree scandal, claiming it caused "irreparable damage" to its reputation。

Irreparable是「不可彌補、無可補救」的意思。它是形容詞，其他例子：
Unless the oil spill is contained, irreparable damage will be done to the coastlines是「除非石油洩漏受到控制，否則會對海岸線造成無可補救的損害」。
