Sophisticated (老成)

有讀者問「老成」的英文是甚麼？


我們知道「老成」是形容一個人「老練、精於世故、見過世面、閱歷甚深、見多識廣，即「老江湖」的意思。英文是Sophisticated。例如 ：


Donald is a smart and sophisticated young person是「當勞是一個聰明老成的年青人」，Sophisticated readers understood the book's hidden meaning是「精於世故的讀者理解了這本書隱含的意義」，


His witty conversation showed her to be very sophisticated是「他妙取橫生的談話顯示了他是個精於世故的人」。


注意：它形容女士的時候，是「品味高雅、時髦而有文化教養」的意思。例如：


The fashion magazines show what the sophisticated woman is wearing this year是「時裝雜誌展示品味高雅女士穿甚麼時裝」，


Recently her taste has become sophisticated是「近來她的口味變得很高雅」。
