Belated awareness (後知後覺)

有讀者問「後知後覺」的英文是甚麼？在立法會的答問大會上，特首被議員質問，政府對雷曼迷你債券事件的補救措施是否做得太慢，太後知後覺？他回答說，在「次按」事件發生之前，政府己經迅速發出指引，這是政府的先見 之明，而不是後知後覺。Before the breakout of the sub-prime mortgage crisis, we rapidly issued guidelines. This is having foresight, not belated awareness。

Belated是「遲來」的意思。它是形容詞，其他例子：A belated birthday present是「遲來的生日禮物」，A belated apology是「為時已晚的道歉」。

它的副詞是 Belatedly。例如：Belatedly, state leaders have taken decisive steps to show they are taking the matter seriously是「雖然是遲了，各國領袖己經採取決定性的行動，顯示出他們對這事件的態度十分認真」。
