據報道，美國總統喬治布殊日前聯同共和黨和民主黨的總統候選人商討7000億美元的經濟援助，希望共和、民主兩黨同意一個救市方案。US president George W. Bush is bringin g presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain into negotiations on a US$700 billion rescue of wall street, as Democrats and Republicans near agreement on a bailout plan。

較早時，曾經是美國第四大投資銀行雷曼兄弟與有意收購該公司的公司就經濟援助的價錢進行會談失敗後申請破產。Lehman Brothers, once the fourth-largest investment bank in the US, filed for bankruptcy on Monday last week after bailout talks with possible suitors broken down over price。Bailout是「經濟援助、救市方案」的意思。
