Emerge是「逐漸形成」的意思。它是動詞，其他例子：Large-scale industry emerged only gradually as technology evolved是「大規模的工業只是隨著科學技術的逐步發展才逐漸形成的」，After the election, the socialists emerged as the largest single party是「經過選舉，就單個政黨而言，社會黨成為最大的黨」。
