Prime time (黃金時間)

我們知道黃金的英文是 Gold和 Golden，例如 Gold watch, Gold fish, Gold medal, Gold mine是「金錶、金魚、金牌、金礦，而 Golden age, G olden jubilee, Golden wedding是「黃金時代、金禧、金婚」，但電視的黃金時間不是 Gold time 或 Golden time。

它是 Prime time，例如美國總統喬治布殊在星期三晚的電視黃金時間演說時承認，救市方案將會是國會議員「很難投的一票」。Mr. Bush acknowledged in a prime-time television address on Wednesday night that the bailout would be a "tough vote" for lawmakers。

其他例子：Prime-time advertising rates are very high是「黃金時間的廣告費非常貴」，The interview will be broadcast during prime time是「這次訪問將會在黃金時間播出」。注意：Prime meat是「上肉」，Prime rate是「優惠利率」。
