誘因 (Incentive)


上星期，市區重建局宣布，受重建項目影響的商戶在未來五年可能收到額外補助金。報章的標題是“Renewal body offers more incentives”：市建局提供更多誘因。另一方面，香港大學社會工作學系一項調查顯示，兩鐵應該向長者提供一些財政上的獎勵例如優惠車票，使長者覺得他們受到照顧，並可鼓勵他們外出參加社交活動。Financial incentives such as specially priced tickets could be offered by the rail company, to make the elderly feel cared for, and to encourage them to go out and socialize。

Incentive 是「獎勵、誘因」的意思。它是名詞，其他例子：The government lack incentives to attract private companies to undertake social enterprises 是「政府缺乏誘因吸引私人公司開辦社會企業」，The promise of a bonus acted as an incentive to greater effort 是「分發花紅的承諾獎勵大家更加努力工作」。
